Birds, Man in the Sky and random things .....

I love it when birds came visiting. Unlike the butterflies, they are so vocal when they come around.  Whenever I hear their  cheerful, chirpy songs, I cannot help but look out for them ..... ! It is so nice to watch them. They are often so full of life - whether basking in the sun, sipping nectar from the flowers or just fooling around.  One morning I caught sight of this bird...it did not come alone but with some friends. Taking their pictures was no easy task :- ) ! I have been hoping some birds will make nests in my garden, that will be so exciting, but  so far no luck yet.

So beautiful - perched on the peacock shrub !

Just checking out the neighborhood ....
For some evenings now,  some people had been having lots of fun.   Check this out -  very noisy machines, not unlike the lawn mover .... buzzing over  the neighborhood! Once or twice I have heard them going on close to midnight.  I guess they do not realize how noisy they are...... :- ( !

Nope... not a bird ......
It's  a man and his flying machine ...

It certainly looks like  fun, right ?

March must be the month for Hippeastrum for I see many of these plants blooming in the neighborhood.....!

The Hippeastrum bloom and the passion fruit...

The Aglaonema does blooms - a lovely surprise !

Lime Butterfly

I want to look threatening to scare predators, but not too successful  !
They say, "Knowledge enriches ..." As I read more  about butterflies,  the puzzles are falling in place.

For example, I  was always curious about  this strange form sticking to the branch  ...

I am well hidden

Can you spot me?

Now I know they were  the pupa of the Lime Butterfly.

I never get the chance to see them hatched properly.  There were quite a few of them. Now I  also know  what those caterpillars always around the lime plants will turn into eventually !   I have not taken pictures of them for they were  quite small.  As they grew older, they must be well camouflaged  for I have not seen them.  These days I try not to harm these crawly creatures unless they  turn really destructive.  Caterpillars actually look very vulnerable.

Strange that this Lime Butterfly seemed to like the variegated gardenias over the citrus plant.

The lime butterfly is really beautiful. It is strange that I do not see them more frequently .  Well it is a good thing perhaps as they are actually considered pests.... :- (  !

Flying Beauties in My Garden.... Grey Pansy Butterfly

I am fulfilling one of my many resolutions for 2011 .... getting to know  the butterflies that have visited my garden so that I can learn as much as I can about them.  There are butterflies that I missed  while  attempting to take their photos.  However for starters I have a few to keep me busy for a while .... :- ) !

Hello I am Grey Pansy !
For starters,  let us appreciate the beauty of the Grey Pansy. I must warn my readers though that I may make a mistake in  the ID of these butterflies, so it is good to counter check.

Do you see any Grey on me? :- )

I know the lantana has a funny smell  ....

But it is the scent that draws me.......

I hear the pesky mosquitoes avoids them ...

Might as well check out these other  plants....
Nay....not to  my taste ...

I guess I should be going ....

Bye ... !
